오늘 회사에 발달장애인으로 구성된 오케스트라가 왔었는데요. 멀리 사천에서 지역 가수분도 오셔서 좋은 노래 들려주시고 즐거운 시간이 되었습니다.
그 중에 한 노래가 위대한 쇼맨의 주제가로 유명한 This is me 였어요. 저는 사실 이 영화는 보지 않았습니다. 뮤지컬 영화를 그렇게 좋아하진 않거든요. 하지만 이 노래가 너무 좋아서 이 동영상은 몇 번이고 본 것 같아요.
제가 항암 끝나고 나서는 한 6개월정도 제대로 머리가 돌아가지 않았었어요. 케모 브레인 현상이라고 하는데요. 그래서 파트너 사와 회의를 할 때 간단한 영어조차 못하겠더라고요. 제가 원래 영어 스피킹을 기똥차게 잘하는 수준은 아니었지만, 그래도 꽤 할 수는 있었거든요. 그런데 그 시기엔 그야말로 헬로우 한마디가 나오기 힘든 상황이랄까요. 입이 얼어붙고, 머리는 뿌옇고, 강제폐경으로 안 그래도 체온 조절이 안 되는데 얼굴은 시뻘겋게 되어서 식은 땀은 나고. 6개월 후부터는 점차 좋아지기 시작했는데, 그래도 양사 임원들이 많이 참석한 자리에서 메인 스피커로 한 시간 이상 세세하게 주제를 끌고 나가야 할 때는 참 많은 준비와 용기가 필요했습니다.
그런 자리가 몇 차례 있었는데 아무래도 처음이 가장 어려워서요, 첫 워크샵 때는 제가 정말 자기 세뇌가 필요했어요. 난 멋지다. 난 정말 잘 할 수 있다. 난 여기 있는 그 누구보다 이 과제를 잘 알고 있다. 다 뽀개버리겠다. 이런 거요. 그때 용기를 내기 위해 들었던 몇 가지 노래가 있는데, 그 중 하나가 바로 이 노래입니다.
